Two: Machu Picchu

Two: Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu is an ancient Incan city found in the jungle-covered mountains of Peru.

It is called the 'Lost City' because it was first discovered in 1911.

It is an archaeological jewel and one of the must-see tourist attractions in South America.

In my opinion it deserves to be on this list due to it's awe-inspiring location, jaw-dropping views and it's amazing story.

Interesting fact:
Machu Picchu was built around 1450 AD and is made up of more than 150 buildings ranging from baths and houses to temples and sanctuaries.

Aurora, more commonly known as The Northern Lights, is one of the most elusive phenomena on this list.
Most auroras occur in a band known as the auroral zone, which is usually 3° to 6° wide in latitude and between 10° and 20° from the north and south poles at all local times.

Interesting fact:

Scientists still aren't completely sure how these organic light shows come about, despie studying them for over 60 years!

Best places to see them:

1: Anchorage, Alaska

2: Calgary, Canada

3. Just outside Reykjavic, Iceland
